Personal Information:
I live in Claygate, Surrey and have three wonderful children (born 1988, 1991 & 1996), with each birth being unique and memorable. I have been lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mum to them throughout (as well as being a 'hands on' auntie to 10 nieces and nephews). I was very fortunate to have fantastic support from my mother and mother-in-law after the births of my children and am eternally grateful for that and I hope to be able to offer the same kind of support to other mother's. It has been my absolute love of Motherhood and all that it entails, along with my awe of the miracle of birth that has inspired me to become a doula.
Philosophy & Service:
Birth Doula: I believe passionately in a woman's amazing natural ability to birth her baby given the right support and safe environment. Childbirth is something that all mothers remember for a lifetime and my aim is to help to make your experience a happy, satisfying and empowering one. I aim to provide you with the knowledge to make informed decisions, provide you and your partner with the support you deserve and hopefully make your experience a positive one by helping you prepare and carry out your plans for the birth and facilitate communication between you, your partner and your caregivers.

My service offers at least two antenatal visits, 24 hour on call support from 38 - 42 weeks, constant attendance during labour and birth and until you are settled after your first feed, at least one postnatal visit, breastfeeding support, telephone and email support throughout and for as long as you need it. Please contact me for birth package prices.

Postnatal Doula: There is no aspect of life that remains unchanged when a woman becomes a mother and my aim is to help facilitate this transition by providing a cushioning effect in the first few weeks. I will help nurture you into your new role as a parent and provide emotional and practical support giving you the time you need to bond with your baby and get the rest you need. Support may involve help with feeding, looking after baby while you get some rest, helping with other children, cooking a light meal or just being there to listen to you and alleviate any worries. Please contact me for hourly rates.

Experience & Specialities:
I have worked in most of the local hospitals to me: Kingston, St. Peters, Royal Surrey, St. Georges, Epsom, Chelsea & Westminster and have assisted in many home births (including delivery of one mischievous little babe who was too impatient to wait for the midwife!)

I have experience of completely natural birth with no intervention, water birth, home birth, tens, pethidine, epidural, caesarean, VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean) and HBAC (home birth after caesarean). I have personal experience of both breast and bottle feeding and will fully support you in your choice of feeding methods.

I have supported many women in the first few weeks after birth in establishing breast feeding.

I carry a Helios homeopathy kit to all births should you wish to make use of it and also aromatherapy oils. I can suggest physiological positions and comfort measures to help labour progress and reduce the pain of labour, including massage and relaxation techniques. I also provide use of a birth ball and have many books and dvd's on pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding that I am happy to loan out.

Postnatally, I think it is invaluable to have the support of someone who can empathise with what you are going through as she has been there herself. The early days of parenting are all consuming and I hope to be able to take some of the burden off you and your partner so that you can enjoy this special time.

  • Doula UK is not responsible for the content of external web sites. As much as possible we try to ensure that external links posted by members point only to their own doula-related web sites. If you come across a link that does not do this, please let us know.
  • Doula UK specifies that trainee doulas should charge no more than £200 for a birth or £10 per hour for postnatal work.
  • Trainee doulas have completed a Doula UK approved training course but they have not acquired the level of experience necessary for them to become fully recognised. This level of experience is normally four assessed births for birth doulas and four assessed postnatal jobs for postnatal doulas. Recognised doulas have reached or exceeded this level of experience.
