Stacia Smales Hill, trained by Michel Odent, NCT antenatal teacher, Bach Flower Remedy Practitioner, Birthing From Within Mentor Level 1. I have been assisting at births since 1972. Mother of one son and one daughter both born at home, step-mother to three and grandmother to four.
Philosophy & Service:
Since 1972, I have been active in helping women achieve the birth they want, while addressing the holistic experience of becoming a parent. Childbirth itself changes a woman deeply. It is important for women and their partners to feel empowered during childbirth, it is equally important for you to feel prepared for the transition from child to parent of a child that happens in those few hours, those few minutes when your child is being born. You are the real experts in your own bodies, your needs, and ultimately in your own child. My role is to help you to gain confidence in your knowledge and in your own abilities, and to give you the information and support for you to make your own decisions, whether it is what kind of pain relief you want to what you feel about routines and feeding.
Most new parents are also struggling with the demands of a career and trying to understand how they will cope with a new baby as well. I have spent 30 years as a management professional and can offer understanding, support and advice. It can be difficult for highly skilled, intelligent people to suddenly find themselves “amateur parents” at a time in life when they are feeling competent in all other aspects of their lives. Every couple is unique, and it is important to understand your needs and expectations, and work with you to understand how to best meet those needs and expectations within the birth environment.
The cost of my services as a Birth Doula is £850 to include: Initial meeting to establish background and expectations, 2/3 further meetings before the birth, including one-on-one meetings with the mother and with the birth partner. Available by phone and email throughout this time for information, questions, etc. On call for the birth from 2 weeks before the due date to 2 weeks after the due date. Attendance during labour at home or hospital as soon as you need me. Help after the birth for 2/4 hours as needed. 2/3 follow-up meetings after the baby is born, at your convenience. Available by phone and email for advice, assistance, help whenever you need me.
I have a number of doulas I rely upon for back-up if needed who are recognised doulas with Doula UK. Back-ups are only used with the consent and approval of the client.
Post-natal doula services from £40/hour include teaching childcare skills, breastfeeding advice, cooking and mothering the mother.

I am an NCT Antenatal Teacher, a Birthlight Yogasize teacher, Bach Flower Remedy Practitioner and Birthing From Within Mentor Level 1. I offer help with pain coping techniques, using birth art to help with worries and anxieties, and recommend herbs and flower essences to help with late pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal issues.

I have attended both home and hospital births. I have experience of most of the hospitals in SW, S, Central,NW and N London.

Doula UK specifies that trainee doulas should charge no more than £200 for a birth or £10 per hour for postnatal work.
Trainee doulas have completed a Doula UK approved training course but they have not acquired the level of experience necessary for them to become fully recognised. This level of experience is normally four assessed births for birth doulas and four assessed postnatal jobs for postnatal doulas. Recognised doulas have reached or exceeded this level of experience.
