Members have provided phone numbers and email addresses for referral to their doula services only. The use of this information for any other purpose, including soliciting and advertising of workshops or other mass mailing, is not allowed and will be enforced by Doula UK.
PLEASE NOTE: If you employ one of the doulas listed in our pages, "Doula UK" cannot, and will not, accept any responsibility for services provided to you by that doula. We advise that you ask doulas details of their background and experience at interview, and that a written contract be drawn up between you and the doula before the provision of the service.
At "Doula UK" we have many women who have come to be doulas through a variety of journeys, all are passionate about their work. The most important thing to consider when employing a doula is "Do I like this woman? Can I spend time with her? Can I trust her?" Please read our "Guidelines for Employing a Doula" for more thoughts on this.
Recognition - All doulas who register with Doula UK have read and signed to say that they agree with ourPhilosophy, Code of Practice and other Policies/Procedures. At the beginning of 2004, "Doula UK" introduced a "Recognition Process" for doulas in the UK where we have established a distinction between doulas who have simply registered with us, and those who are "recognised" as having attained a particular level of learned skills and experience (new members as from January 2004 have to submit evidence of their doula work with at least 4 families). However, that said, we would like to stress that it is more important for a woman (and her partner - if applicable) to choose a doula based on affinity and compatiblity, than on perceived "qualifications".
