For trainee/newly recognised doulas there is also a one day workshop focussing on the practical aspects of working as a doula.

Completion of a Doula UK approved course (ie one of those listed above) is a requirement for all members of Doula UK. (It is of course possible to become a 'friend' of doula UK without completing one of the above courses.)

Please note that there are other courses that teach doula skills, but unless a course is listed here it has not been approved by Doula UK as meeting the appropriate standards. As a result, individuals who have taken courses not listed above will not be eligible for Doula UK membership (other than as a 'friend') unless they then complete one of the above courses.

To apply for membership of Doula UK, either as a doula, having completed one of the above courses, or as a friend, please download the following documents and return the application form to us with the appropriate fee.

If you have previously been a member of Doula UK but your membership has lapsed, you can download the membership renewal form here.

Please note that although we are looking into developing a system for online applications we are currently only able to accept applications by post.
